"Provide plumbing services" § 3-101

3-307. SCOPE OF LICENSES.

(A)  MASTER PLUMBER.

WHILE IT IS EFFECTIVE IN EFFECT, A MASTER PLUMBER LICENSE
AUTHORIZES THE LICENSEE TO PROVIDE PLUMBING SERVICES.

(B)  JOURNEY PLUMBER.

WHILE IT IS EFFECTIVE IN EFFECT, A JOURNEY PLUMBER LICENSE
AUTHORIZES THE LICENSEE TO PROVIDE PLUMBING SERVICES ONLY UNDER
THE DIRECTION AND CONTROL OF A MASTER PLUMBER OR A HOLDER OF A
LIMITED MASTER PLUMBER LICENSE.

(C)  APPRENTICE PLUMBER.

WHILE IT IS EFFECTIVE IN EFFECT, AN APPRENTICE PLUMBER
LICENSE AUTHORIZES THE LICENSEE TO ASSIST IN PROVIDING PLUMBING
SERVICES ONLY UNDER THE DIRECTION AND CONTROL OF A MASTER PLUMBER
OR A HOLDER OF A LIMITED MASTER PLUMBER LICENSE.

COMMITTEE COMMENT: This section is new language derived
from the second clause of the second sentence of
former Art. 56, § 453(a) and the second clause of the
sixteenth sentence of § 449(a) and rephrased in
standard language for clarity.

The third sentence of former Art. 56, § 453(a), which
required licenses to "be so framed as to show
journeyman plumbers and apprentices are authorized to
work only as above provided", is deleted as
surplusage.

The second sentence of former Art. 56, § 453(d), which
required references, in general or local laws of the
State, to a person qualified to work at the plumbing
business or to do plumbing work to be construed to
refer to a master plumber and prohibited
interpretation to mean a journey plumber or an
apprentice plumber since the latter may only work
under the supervision of the master plumber, is
deleted as unnecessary in light of the terminology
used in this title.
