WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor                   Ch. 647

(II) SHALL HAVE BEEN LICENSED IN ANOTHER STATE
AS A JOURNEY PLUMBER AFTER:

1.  COMPLETING AT LEAST 7,500 HOURS OF
TRAINING IN PROVIDING PLUMBING SERVICES UNDER THE DIRECTION AND
CONTROL OF A LICENSED MASTER PLUMBER; AND

2.  PASSING A WRITTEN EXAMINATION THAT IS
EQUIVALENT TO THE EXAMINATION FOR A JOURNEY PLUMBER LICENSE GIVEN
IN THIS STATE.

(E) EXAMINATION.

EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED IN THIS SUBTITLE, AN APPLICANT
FOR A MASTER PLUMBER LICENSE OR A JOURNEY PLUMBER LICENSE SHALL
PASS AN EXAMINATION GIVEN BY THE BOARD UNDER THIS SUBTITLE.

COMMITTEE COMMENT: Subsection (a) of this section is new
language added to allow a concise reference to an
individual who has been issued a master plumber
license from any of the jurisdictions listed in the
subsection.

Subsection (b) of this section is new language added
to introduce the basic requirements for an applicant
for a license.

Subsections (c) and (d) of this section are new
language added to conform to the current practice of
the Board. Subsection (d)(2)(i) also is supported by
the first sentence of former Art. 56, § 453(d), which
allowed a waiver of the 2-years experience normally
required for an applicant to qualify for a master
plumber license.

Subsection (e) of this section is derived from the
second and third clauses of the twelfth sentence of
former Art. 56, § 449(a) and the second clause of the
first sentence of § 453(a) and rephrased in standard
language to state expressly that each license
applicant who is required to take an examination under
this subtitle must pass that examination before the
applicant may be licensed.

The introductory phrase of subsection (e) of this
section, "[e]xcept as otherwise provided in this
subtitle", is added to recognize the waiver provisions
of § 3-305 of this subtitle.

The first sentence of former Art. 56, § 453(d), which
enabled the Board, in cases of emergency, to waive 1
of the 2 years of experience as a journey plumber
otherwise required for an applicant for a master.
