Ch. 563

LAWS OF MARYLAND

THE APPLICANT SHALL MEET THE REQUIREMENTS FOR A REAL ESTATE
BROKER LICENSE UNDER § 4-305 OF THIS SUBTITLE.

(C) COMMITMENT FROM REAL ESTATE BROKER.

THE APPLICANT SHALL OBTAIN, FROM A LICENSED REAL ESTATE
BROKER, A COMMITMENT PROVIDING THAT THE APPLICANT SHALL BECOME
AFFILIATED WITH THE REAL ESTATE BROKER AS AN ASSOCIATE REAL
ESTATE BROKER ON THE GRANTING OF AN ASSOCIATE REAL ESTATE BROKER
LICENSE TO THE APPLICANT.

SUBCOMMITTEE COMMENT: Subsection (a) of this section is
standard language added to introduce the basic
requirements for an associate real estate broker
license.

Subsection (b) of this section is new language derived
without substantive change from the first and second
clauses of former Art. 56, § 212(a-l) and restated as
an affirmative requirement that an applicant for an
associate real estate broker license meet the
requirements for a real estate broker license.

Subsection (c) of this section is new language
substituted for the third clause of former Art. 56, §
212(a-l). The substituted language clarifies that an
applicant must have a commitment from a licensed real
estate broker for the applicant to become affiliated
with the broker as an associate real estate broker on
the granting of an associate real estate broker
license to the applicant. This conforms to the
current practice of the Commission.

Defined terms: "Associate real estate broker" § 4-101

"License" § 4-101

"Licensed real estate broker" § 4-101

"Real estate broker" § 4-101
