SUBCOMMITTEE COMMENT: Subsection (a) of this section is new
language derived without substantive change from
former Art. 56, § 219(a), as it related to nonresident
applicants for a real estate salesperson license, and
the first clause of the first sentence of § 217(c)(1),
as it related to applicants for a real estate
salesperson license.

Subsection (b) of this section is new language derived
without substantive change from the first sentence of
former Art. 56, § 217(c)(1), as it related to the
requirement that an applicant for a real estate
salesperson license be of good character and
reputation.

Subsection (c) of this section is new language derived
without substantive change from the second clause of
former Art. 56, § 217(b), as it related to applicants
for a real estate salesperson license.

Subsection (d) of this section is hew language derived
without substantive change from the first and fourth
sentences of former Art. 56, § 217(c)(2).

Subsection (e) of this section is new language derived
without substantive change from the first clause of
the third sentence of former Art. 56, § 217(c)(2).

Subsection (f) of this section is new language
substituted for the first sentence of former Art. 56,
§ 221 (a), as it related to the requirement that
applicants for a real estate salesperson license "give
evidence of their intention ... to become regularly
engaged as a salesman by a licensed real estate
broker". The substituted language clarifies that an
applicant must have a commitment from a licensed real
estate broker for the applicant to become affiliated
with the broker as a real estate salesperson on the
granting of a real estate salesperson license to the
applicant. This conforms to the current practice of
the Commission.

Subsection (g) of this section is new language derived
without substantive change from the second sentence of
former Art. 56, § 220 and, as it related to the
ability of an applicant for a real estate salesperson
license to perform the functions of a real estate
salesperson, the first clause of the first sentence of
§ 217(c)(1).

Subsection (a) of this section is restated in standard
language to introduce the basic requirements for a
real estate salesperson license. The standard
