(12) "PERMANENT PART-TIME EMPLOYMENT" MEANS WORKING
FOR NOT LESS THAN TWO DAYS PER WORKWEEK; AND FOR NOT LESS THAN 50
PERCENT OR NOT MORE THAN 80 PERCENT OF THE NORMAL WORKWEEK.
(13) "PERMANENT STATUS EMPLOYEE" MEANS AN EMPLOYEE
WHO HAS COMPLETED A PROBATIONARY PERIOD RESULTING FROM AN INITIAL
APPOINTMENT. OR WHO HAS COMPLETED A PROBATIONARY PERIOD IF
REQUIRED FOLLOWING REINSTATEMENT, REEMPLOYMENT, OR PROMOTION.
(14) "POSITION" MEANS A GROUP OF DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES REQUIRING THE FULL-TIME OR LESS THAN FULL-TIME
EMPLOYMENT OF ONE PERSON.
(15) "PROBATIONARY PERIOD" MEANS A WORKING PERIOD
WHICH FOLLOWS THE INITIAL APPOINTMENT TO A POSITION IN THE
CLASSIFIED SERVICE OR WHICH FOLLOWS REINSTATEMENT OR PROMOTION,
IF REQUIRED. DURING THE PROBATIONARY PERIOD THE EMPLOYEE IS
REQUIRED TO DEMONSTRATE THE ABILITY TO PERFORM THE DUTIES AND
FULFILL THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION.
(16) "RECLASSIFY" MEANS TO REASSIGN A POSITION FROM
ONE CLASS TO ANOTHER CLASS WHICH MORE APPROPRIATELY REFLECTS THE
DUTIES OF THE POSITION. RECLASSIFICATION MAY BE TO A HIGHER OR
LOWER CLASS OR TO A CLASS AT THE SAME SALARY LEVEL.
(17) "REINSTATEMENT" MEANS REEMPLOYMENT OF A PERSON
IN A CLASSIFICATION PREVIOUSLY HELD AND INCLUDES RESTORATION OF
ALL BENEFITS.
(18) "SECRETARY" MEANS THE SECRETARY OF PERSONNEL.
(19) "TEMPORARY EXTRA APPOINTMENT" MEANS THE
APPOINTMENT OF A PERSON TO A POSITION FOR A PERIOD NOT TO EXCEED
180 DAYS IN ORDER TO ACCOMMODATE A SHORT TERM LABOR SHORTAGE.
THIS APPOINTMENT MAY BE WITH OR WITHOUT AN EXAMINATION.
(20) (19) "TEMPORARY PENDING APPOINTMENT" MEANS THE
APPOINTMENT OF A PERSON TO PREVENT THE STOPPAGE OF PUBLIC
BUSINESS TEMPORARILY, WITH OR WITHOUT AN EXAMINATION, PENDING THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ELIGIBLE LIST.
(21) (20) "UNCLASSIFIED SERVICE" MEANS ALL POSITIONS
SPECIFICALLY EXCLUDED FROM THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE BY THE
ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND.
16.
(C) THE SECRETARY OF PERSONNEL SHALL BY REGULATION PROVIDE
FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF ANY RECLASSIFICATION.
