(13)  Seafood Marketing Authority and Division of
Market Development; [and]

(14)  Seafood Marketing Advisory Commission; AND

(15)  AQUACULTURE POLICY COMMITTEE; AND

(16) Aquaculture Advisory Committee AQUACULTURE

ADVISORY COMMITTEE.

(b)  The Secretary shall appoint the State Chemist, State
Veterinarian, and Chief of Weights and Measures.

(c)  The Department also includes any other position or unit
which is declared within the Department pursuant to law.

SUBTITLE 13. AQUACULTURE

10-1301.

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY DEFINES AQUACULTURE AS AN AGRICULTURAL
ACTIVITY. AQUACULTURE INCLUDES THE COMMERCIAL REARING OF
FINFISH, SHELLFISH, AND AQUATIC PLANTS FOR SALE, TRADE, BARTER,
OR SHIPMENT. IT IS THE INTENT OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO CREATE
POLICY AND AN ADVISORY COMMITTEES COMMITTEE TO PROMOTE THE
DEVELOPMENT OF AN AQUACULTURE INDUSTRY IN THIS STATE. THE
MARYLAND DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE IS THE LEAD AGENCY FOR
PROMOTING, COORDINATING, AND MARKETING AQUACULTURE AND
AQUACULTURE PRODUCTS. THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES IS
RESPONSIBLE FOR ENFORCEMENT OF LAWS, REGULATIONS, AND RULES. THE
UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND IS THE LEAD AGENCY FOR RESEARCH IN
AQUACULTURE PRODUCTION.

10-1302.

(A) THERE IS AN AQUACULTURE POLICY COMMITTEE.

(B) THE POLICY COMMITTEE SHALL CONSIST OF 3 MEMBERS:

(1) THE SECRETARY OF AGRICULTURE;

(2) THE SECRETARY OF NATURAL RESOURCES; AND
