WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor                   Ch. 525

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 33 - Election Code

2-3.

(a)  Each member of the boards of the several political
subdivisions of the State shall receive an annual salary of not
less than the following amounts:

(23) Wicomico County:

(I) [$1,200] $1,800 for each member of the
board, plus an additional sum of [$300] $600 for the president of
the board.

(II) MEMBERS MAY NOT RECEIVE ADDITIONAL SALARY
OR COMPENSATION FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO ELECTION ACTIVITIES OR
MATTERS OCCURRING WITHIN THE COUNTY.

(b)  (1) Except as provided in paragraph (2) PARAGRAPHS (2)
AND (3) of this subsection, each substitute member of the board
shall receive compensation for each day he serves as a member, in
an amount determined by the county commissioners, county
councils, or the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore. A
substitute member shall attend all regularly scheduled meetings
of the board and shall be compensated at a rate of not less than
$25 per day.

(2)  In Garrett County, a substitute member of the
board shall receive $40 for each meeting attended.

(3)  IN WICOMICO COUNTY, A SUBSTITUTE MEMBER OF THE
BOARD SHALL RECEIVE $1,200 PER YEAR.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1988.
