SECTION 2 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1988.

(House Bill 216)

AN ACT concerning

Lands of the United States - Concurrent Jurisdiction

FOR the purpose of authorizing the Governor to execute certain
agreements with the United States to establish concurrent
jurisdiction over certain lands of the United States for the
purpose of enforcing the civil or criminal laws of the
State.

BY repealing and reenacting, without amendments,

Article - State Government
Section 14-102(a)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1984 Volume and 1987 Supplement)

BY adding to

Article - State Government
Section 14-102(c)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1984 Volume and 1987 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - State Government

14-102.

(a) With respect to land that the United States or any of
its units leases or otherwise holds in the State, the State
reserves jurisdiction and authority over the land and over
persons, property, and transactions on the land to the fullest
extent that is permitted by the United States Constitution and
that is not inconsistent with the governmental purpose for which
the land is held.
