AN ACT concerning

Maryland Local Government Tort Claims Act - Local Government

Housing Authorities

FOR the purpose of adding certain housing authorities to the
meaning of local government for purposes of civil liability
and immunity under the Maryland Local Government Tort Claims
Act.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings

Section 5-401(d)(12) and (13)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1984 Replacement Volume and 1987 Supplement)

BY adding to

Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings

Section 5-401(d)(14)

Annotated Code of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings

5-401.

(d) "Local government" means:

(12)  A special taxing district; [and]

(13)  A nonprofit community service corporation
incorporated under Maryland law that is authorized to collect
charges or assessments[.]; AND

(14)  HOUSING AUTHORITIES CREATED UNDER ARTICLE 44A OF
THE CODE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1988.
