(iii) Drug addiction.
(2) "Drug abuse" does not include taking a drug
according to a lawful prescription that is issued, in the course
of professional treatment, for a legitimate medical purpose.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
apply to any group health contract issued or renewed on or after
July 1, 1988.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1988.

AN ACT concerning
Fire Safety - Quick Fast Response Residential Fire Sprinklers
FOR the purpose of requiring the installation of quick fast
response residential fire sprinkler systems in certain
hotels and motels with 10 or more units for which a
construction contract is executed after a certain date;
providing for the establishment of certain standards and
regulations for quick fast response residential fire
sprinkler systems; establishing penalties for violations of
this Act; authorizing the State Fire Prevention Commission
or State Fire Marshal certain fire prevention officials to
make exceptions to the quick fast response residential fire
sprinkler system when there is clear evidence that alternate
provisions will provide equivalent protection of human life;
establishing certain requirements for residential fire
sprinklers; clarifying the effect of this Act on existing
safety fire laws and on the authority of certain State
units; requiring certain officials to consider the cost of
installing residential sprinkler systems in the evaluation
and approval of certain plans; making stylistic changes;
permitting each county, municipal corporation, and Baltimore
City to enact more stringent fire sprinkler systems
provisions of law; authorizing any county fire chief, fire
administrator, or municipal fire chief to enforce the
provisions of this Act; and generally relating to the
requirement of quick fast response residential fire
