terms of the successor board or official, as provided in this
Act.

There is hereby transferred to the Board of Regents of the
University of Maryland System all powers, duties, and functions
previously vested in the Board of Trustees of State Universities
and Colleges and the former Board of Regents of the University of
Maryland.

SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to the
plan of reorganization that is proposed by this Act, publishers
of the Annotated Code of Maryland, subject to the approval of the
Director of the Department of Legislative Reference, shall
propose the correction of any agency names and titles that are
rendered incorrect by this Act. In addition, the publishers shall
correct any references to agency names and titles that are

rendered incorrect by Chapter ____ (H.B. 1) of the Acts of the

General Assembly of 1988.

SECTION 5. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Board of
Regents of the University of Maryland System shall direct and
approve the a plan for consolidation of the central
administration staff of the former University of Maryland and the
staff of the former Board of Trustees of State Universities and
Colleges, pursuant to this Act. The plan shall be submitted to
the Legislative Policy Committee of the Maryland General Assembly
for its review and approval by October 1, 1988. Such
consolidation shall occur not later than October 1, December 31,
1988. Every person who, as of June 30, 1988, is employed on the
staff of the University of Maryland Central Administration or the
Board of Trustees of State Universities and Colleges in a
position authorized by the State budget is hereby transferred, as
provided in this Act, effective July 1, 1988, to the staff of the
University of Maryland System, unless and until the Board of
Regents of the University of Maryland System eliminates such
position. By October 1 December 31, 1988, the Board of Regents
of the University of Maryland System shall take action either to
approve, eliminate, or modify each position that, as of June 30,
1988, was on the staff of the University of Maryland Central
Administration or the Board of Trustees of State Universities and
Colleges, in order to achieve a consolidation of the two former
staffs. In taking such action, the Board of Regents shall
consider plans submitted by the Chancellor, who shall consult in
the formulation of these plans with the person who, on June 30,
1988, holds the position of Executive Director of the Board of
Trustees of the State Universities and Colleges. This Act may not
be construed to affect the retirement status of any person who,
as of June. 30, 1988, is employed on the staff of the University
of Maryland Central Administration or the Board of Trustees of
State Universities and Colleges and who is transferred to the
