Ch. 246

LAWS OF MARYLAND

(2)  One shall be the president of a private college
or the president's nominee;

(3)  One shall be the president of a community college
or the president's nominee;

(4)  One shall be a financial aid officer of a State
or private college or university;

(5)  One shall be a representative of the public high
schools;

(6)  One shall be a representative of the private
postsecondary proprietary institutions;

(7)  Four shall be residents of this State, chosen for
their interest in higher education, who are not employed by,
professionally affiliated with, or members of the governing board
of any institution of higher education in this State; and

(8)  One shall be a student.

(c)  (1) Except for the student member, each member serves
for a term of 6 years and until a successor is appointed and
qualifies. These terms are staggered as required by the terms of
the members serving on the Board as of July 1, 1978.

(2)  A member appointed to fill a vacancy in an
unexpired term:

(i) Shall have the same qualifications as his
predecessor; and

(ii) Serves only for the remainder of that term
and until a successor is appointed and qualifies.

(3)  The student member:

(i) Shall be a full-time student in a public or
private high school, college, or university in the State;

(ii) Shall be enrolled as a senior in high
school or as a student in a college or university in the State
during the term of the appointment;

(iii) Shall be a nonvoting member; and

(iv) Shall serve for 1 year beginning on July
1.

(d)  Each member of the Board:

(1) Serves without compensation; and
