(House Bill 1358)

AN ACT concerning

Housing - Rental Allowance Program

FOR the purpose of authorizing within the Department of Housing
and Community Development a program of financial assistance
to or on behalf of certain low lower income persons
households in need of rental housing assistance;
establishing the criteria, standards, and exceptions to the
program; and generally relating to the establishment of a
program of financial assistance in the form of rental
allowance payments within the Department of Housing and
Community Development.

Section 2-601 through 2-607 to be under the new subtitle

"Subtitle 6. Rental Allowance Program"

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

SUBTITLE 6. RENTAL ALLOWANCE PROGRAM

(A)  IN THIS SUBTITLE THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE MEANINGS
INDICATED.

(B)  "POLITICAL SUBDIVISION" MEANS ANY MUNICIPAL CORPORATION
IN MARYLAND SUBJECT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE XI-E OF THE
CONSTITUTION, THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF BALTIMORE, AND ANY OF
THE 23 COUNTIES IN MARYLAND.

(C) "PROGRAM" MEANS THE RENTAL ALLOWANCE PROGRAM.
