SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1988.

CHAPTER 203

(House Bill 469)

AN ACT concerning

Handicapped Parking - Signs

FOR the purpose of requiring certain signs reserving a space for
parking by handicapped persons to be posted and attached in
a certain manner; and generally relating to the erection and
replacement of certain signs regarding handicapped parking.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article - Transportation
Section 21-1006(d)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1987 Replacement Volume)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Transportation

21-1006.

(d) (1) (i) Subject to subparagraph (ii) below, each space
reserved for a handicapped person shall be signified by a sign
with the international symbol of access and the words
"handicapped parking" on it.

(ii) All signs erected or replaced after July
1, 1982 which reserve a space for handicapped persons shall be
[in]:

1.  IN conformance with the requirements
of the State manual on uniform traffic control devices[.]; AND

2. A. ATTACHED TO A POST PERMANENTLY
ANCHORED IN THE GROUND; OR

B. PERMANENTLY ATTACHED TO A WALL THAT IS
NOT MORE THAN 10 FEET DIRECTLY BEYOND THE FRONT BOUNDARY OF THE
