Maryland Mining Council

FOR the purpose of repealing the Maryland Mining Council;
repealing the membership and term of the Council; and
generally relating to the abolition of the Maryland Mining
Council.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Natural Resources

[7-702.

(a)  The "Mining Council", hereinafter called "the Council",
is hereby established in the office of the Governor. The Council
shall be the advisory body referred to in Article V (a) of the
Interstate Mining Compact. No member of the Council shall receive
any compensation on account of his service thereon, but any such
member shall be entitled to reimbursement for expenses actually
incurred by him in connection with his service as the Governor's
alternate on the Interstate Mining Commission, or in attending
meetings of the Council.

(b)  The Council shall be composed of the director of the
Maryland Geological Survey, and six appointed members at least
two of whom shall be representative of mining industries and at
least two of whom shall be public members appointed who have a
demonstrated and continuing interest in conservation matters.
