(g) (2) "Dredge boat" includes, for purposes of § 4-1014 of
this subtitle, any boat capable of self-propulsion used in
catching oysters by dredge.
4-1008.
(c) Except as provided in § 4-1014 of this subtitle, a
person may catch oysters by dredge in the waters of the State
where dredging is permitted only during the dredging season from
November 1 to March 15 of the following year.

(c) (1) This subsection does not apply to § 4-1014 of this
subtitle.
(2) The owner, captain, master, or any crew member of
any boat capable of self-propulsion by any motor, turbine, or
other engine attached to the boat, may not have on board the
boat, or in tow, or permit on board or in tow, any scoop,
handscrape, dredge, or similar instrument used in dredging, or
any winch, spool, winder, or other tackle used in dredging,
unless the boat is permitted by the Department to dredge on
leased land, or is engaged in taking seed oysters under the
surveillance and with the permission of the Department.
Notwithstanding any other provisions of this subtitle, the
Department may designate by rule or regulation a period of time
not to exceed two days in any one week during which dredge boats
licensed under the provisions of this subtitle, may be propelled
by means of the auxiliary yawl boat carried on the dredge boat in
the waters of the Chesapeake Bay. The Department may prescribe
the maximum daily limit on any day.

(a) This section applies only to the waters of the State
that lie contiguous to Somerset County in the Chesapeake Bay.
(b) A person shall be licensed by the Department before the
person may catch oysters with a power dredge in the waters of the
State that lie contiguous to Somerset County, as described in
subsection (a) of this section.
(c) A person may not hold an oyster harvester license and a
power dredge license simultaneously. The Department may issue a
power dredge license only to the holder of an oyster harvester
license, and the Department shall suspend this oyster harvester
license on issuance of a power dredge license until any time that
the holder surrenders the power dredge license to the Department.
However, if any person wants to reobtain the person's previously
valid oyster harvester license, the person shall return the
