Annotated Code of Maryland

(1986 Replacement Volume and 1987 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 38A - Fires and Investigations

12A.

(a) (3) (v) Where an occupancy is occupied by a person who
is deaf or hearing impaired, a smoke detector, upon the written
request of the person to the landlord, shall be provided which,
when activated, shall provide a [light] signal THAT IS APPROVED
BY A NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED TESTING LABORATORY FOR ELECTRICAL
APPLIANCES AND IS sufficient to warn the deaf or hearing impaired
individual.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1988.

(House Bill 68)

AN ACT concerning

Prisoners - Employment - Collection and Disposition of Earnings

FOR the purpose of requiring a sheriff of a county to collect
earnings of prisoners and dispose of those earnings in a
certain manner prisoners incarcerated in a certain facility
to pay certain costs; requiring the Talbot County Council to
establish a certain rate and designate an agent to collect
certain costs; correcting certain obsolete references; and
generally relating to the collection and disposition by
sheriffs of earnings of prisoners.

BY repealing and reenacting, without amendments,

Article 41 - Governor - Executive and Administrative

Departments
Section 4-105(b)
Annotated Code of Maryland
