or any other final disposition with the Director.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1988.

AN ACT concerning

Merit System - Employee Reimbursement for Property Damage

FOR the purpose of providing for certain reimbursement of to an
employee, under certain conditions, whenever the employee,
while in the performance of the job, sustains damage or
destruction of the employee's personal property; limiting
the amount of the reimbursement; providing for verification
of the value of certain property; requiring an employee to
report the damage or destruction and the estimated amount of
loss within a certain time; requiring the Secretary of
Personnel to adopt certain regulations; and generally
relating to reimbursement of employees for property damage.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 64A - Merit System

56A.

(A) (1) IN THIS SECTION, THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE
MEANINGS INDICATED.

(2) "PERSONAL PROPERTY" MEANS WEARING APPAREL,
JEWELRY, EYE GLASSES, OR PROSTHETIC DEVICES THAT ARE DAMAGED
WHILE ON THE PERSON OF THE EMPLOYEE, AND DOES NOT INCLUDE OTHER
PERSONAL PROPERTY OF THE EMPLOYEE.
