(3) [Has] EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED IN THIS
SECTION, HAS graduated with an associate of arts degree in
mortuary science or its equivalent from a school accredited by
the American Board of Funeral Service Education or approved by
the Board;
(E) AN APPLICANT FOR A LICENSE TO PRACTICE MORTUARY SCIENCE
SHALL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE COMPLETED A 1-YEAR COURSE OF STUDY IN
MORTUARY SCIENCE OR ITS EQUIVALENT FROM A SCHOOL ACCREDITED BY
THE AMERICAN BOARD OF FUNERAL SERVICE EDUCATION OR APPROVED BY
THE BOARD IF PRIOR TO JULY 1, 1986, THE APPLICANT HAS:
(1) BEEN LICENSED BY THE BOARD AS AN APPRENTICE;
(2) SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED A MORTUARY SCIENCE
CURRICULUM AT A SCHOOL APPROVED BY THE BOARD;
(3) ENROLLED AS A STUDENT IN A MORTUARY SCIENCE
CURRICULUM AT A SCHOOL APPROVED BY THE BOARD; OR
(4) COMPLETED AN APPRENTICESHIP APPROVED BY THE
BOARD.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1988. Section 6-302(e) of this Act shall
remain effective for a period of 3 years, at the end of June 30,
1991, and with no further action required by the General
Assembly, it shall be abrogated and of no further force and
effect.

AN ACT concerning
Day Care for the Elderly
FOR the purpose of altering the definition of an elderly
individual; eliminating the requirement that the Department
of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Department of Human
Resources buy from certain agencies certain services;
eliminating a provision that permits the Department of
Health and Mental Hygiene and the Department of Human
Resources to use funds appropriated for certain institutions
to buy or pay for certain services for the day care for the
elderly; providing that the Department of Health and Mental
