THE SECRETARY OF GENERAL SERVICES SHALL DESIGNATE THE
MARYLAND REHABILITATION AND EMPLOYMENT ASSOCIATION, INC. OR
ANOTHER APPROPRIATE COORDINATING ENTITY TO FACILITATE THE
DISTRIBUTION OF PROCUREMENT CONTRACTS FOR SUPPLIES AND SERVICES
AMONG SHELTERED WORKSHOPS.

The reference to the "Maryland Rehabilitation and
Employment Association, Inc." is substituted for the
former reference to the "Maryland Association of
Workshops, Inc." to reflect the new name of that
organization.

SUBTITLE 2. SMALL BUSINESS PREFERENCE PROGRAM.

14-201. DEFINITIONS.

(A) IN GENERAL.

IN THIS SUBTITLE THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE MEANINGS
INDICATED.

(B) SMALL BUSINESS.

"SMALL BUSINESS" MEANS A BUSINESS THAT MEETS
QUALIFICATIONS ESTABLISHED UNDER § 14-203 OF THIS SUBTITLE.

THE

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language substituted
for former SF § 11-140(a)(3), which stated that
"'[s]mall business' has the meaning established by the
Secretary ... subject to the criteria....." The
substituted language accommodates the revision of the
substantive provisions in the referenced § 14-203 of
this subtitle.

(C) SMALL BUSINESS PREFERENCE.

"SMALL BUSINESS PREFERENCE" MEANS A PURCHASE REQUEST FOR
WHICH BIDS ARE INVITED FROM A LIST OF QUALIFIED BIDDERS THAT
INCLUDES SMALL BUSINESSES.
