Ch. 173                                    LAWS OF MARYLAND

(3) TO THE EXTENT PROVIDED BY FEDERAL LAW, THE
ADMINISTRATION MAY USE A DRIVER'S SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER AS AN
IDENTIFYING NUMBER FOR A DRIVER'S LICENSE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1987.

(Senate Bill 653)

AN ACT concerning

Crimes - Expungement of Records

FOR the purpose of altering the time period in which a person may

petition to expunge a criminal record under certain

circumstances; and generally relating to the expungement of
a criminal record for certain first-time offenders.

FOR the purpose of providing a certain procedure for the

         expungement of public criminal records that relate to

violation of certain laws relating to controlled dangerous

substances; and generally relating to providing a certain

procedure for expungement of certain public criminal

   records.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 292(b)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY. OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

292.

(b) (1) Whenever any person who has not previously been
convicted of any offense under this subheading or under any prior
law of this State or the laws of the United States or of any
other state relating to controlled dangerous substances defined
in this subheading, pleads guilty to or is found guilty of any of
