Laws of Montgomery County, 1987

AN ACT to:

(1) provide that a landlord must not prohibit an elderly
tenant from keeping a household pet unless there is a
specific prohibition in writing at the time occupancy
takes place;

(1)  specify the terms under which a landlord may prevent an
elderly or handicapped tenant from keeping a household
pet;

(2)  define certain terms;

(3)  provide for liability for damages;

(4)  authorize landlords to establish make reasonable rules
for keeping pets under this section . ; and

(5)  authorize landlords to require a tenant to remove a pet
7 days after written warning of a violation of the
rules.

By adding to

Chapter 29, Landlord-Tenant Relations
Section 29-30E of the Montgomery County Code

Effective Date October 24, 1986.
