(3) Revenue derived from 1 cent of the fire and
rescue tax shall be used to provide funds to pay for the funded
[retirement program] LENGTH OF SERVICE AWARD described in Section
130 of this article.
130.
There is hereby established a [retirement] LENGTH OF SERVICE
AWARD program for qualified active volunteer members of the
Charles County Volunteer Fire Companies [and], Volunteer Rescue
Squads, AND MOBILE INTENSIVE CARE UNITS. For the purposes of
Sections 130 through 130C, "active volunteer member" means a
person who accumulated a minimum of 50 points per calendar year
in accordance with the point system set forth in Section 130C. "
130B.
(c) Beginning January 15, 1975 and each January 15
thereafter, the Board of Directors of each volunteer fire company
[or], rescue squad, OR MOBILE INTENSIVE CARE UNIT shall furnish
to the Executive Committee of the Charles County Volunteer
Firemen's Association, Inc. a statement under oath certifying all
volunteers of the company or squad who have qualified for credit
for the previous year. Each statement shall contain all members'
ages and previous credits earned and other information as may be
required by the Executive Committee.
130C.
(d) In the event funding as provided by § 123(d) of this
Article is not sufficient, the Board of Fire and Rescue
Commissioners shall provide additional funds taken from the funds-
allocated to the various fire departments and rescue squads in
amounts proportionate to their receipts from the fire and rescue
tax. [In the event that] IF the funds provided for [retirement]
LENGTH OF SERVICE AWARD are in excess of the requirements, the
Board of Fire and Rescue Commissioners may allocate these funds
for any use authorized under §§ 123 and 124 of this article.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1987.
