VETOES
June 2, 1987
The Honorable R. Clayton Mitchell, Jr.
Speaker of the House of Delegates
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404
Dear Mr. Speaker:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 565.
This bill repeals a provision of law that prohibits a
licensed harness track from loaning or giving a thing of value
other than money for the purpose of permitting a person to wager
on any race.
Senate Bill 436, which was passed by the General Assembly
and signed by me on April 29, 1987, accomplishes the same
purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House
Bill 565.
Sincerely,
William Donald Schaefer
Governor
