Ch. 11

LAWS OF MARYLAND

1978, and under Section 5-531 of the Family Law Article as
enacted by Chapter 296 of the Laws of .1984, and Chapter 302 of
the Laws of 1985, or under Sections 13(d), 62A, and 79 of Article
88A are hereby waived. This Act may not be construed to
authorize any recoupment of moneys paid to the State under the
aforementioned laws prior to the effective date of this Act.

DRAFTER'S NOTE: This clarifies the language in Ch. 388 of
the Acts of 1986.

The clarification was suggested by the State Attorney
General in his bill review letter of May 2, 1986.

Chapter 444 of the Acts
of 1986

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Chapter 737 of the Acts of 1984

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1984. It shall remain effective for a period
of 5 years and, at the end of June 30, 1989, and with no further
action required by the General Assembly, Subtitle 16B.
"Regulation of Competitive Rating" as enacted by this Act shall
be abrogated and of no further force and effect. On July 1,
[1986] 1989, Section 242(c) as enacted by this Act shall be
revived and the Michie Publishing Company shall include Section
242(c) in the Annotated Code of Maryland as it existed before
July 1, 1984.

DRAFTER'S NOTE: This corrects a self-contradictory
termination of a provision in Section 1. of Chapter
444 of the Acts of 1986.

Section 2. of Chapter 737 of the Acts of 1984 provided
for the termination of Subtitle 16B of Article 48A of
the Code on June 30, 1986, and the revival of Article
48A, § 242(c) on July 1, 1986.

Section 1. of Chapter 444 of the Acts of 1986 amended
the termination of Subtitle 16B to provide for a
termination on June 30, 1989, but failed to amend the
provision for the revival of previously existing law.
This left the nonsensical result of reviving the
previously existing law before the interim law
expires.

This clarifies the intent of the General Assembly.

The error was noted by the professional staff of the
Legislative Division of the Department of Legislative
