Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 520.

This bill alters the period for waiving the requirements for
certifications as a professional counselor.

House Bill 284, which was passed by the General Assembly and
signed by me on April 29, 1987, accomplishes the same purpose,
Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 520.

AN ACT concerning

Professional Counselors

FOR the purpose of altering the period for waiving the
requirements for certifications as a professional counselor.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,                                 

Article - Health Occupations
Section 15.5-306
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1986 Replacement Volume and 1986 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Health Occupations

15.5-306.

Until [July 1, 1988] JULY 1, 1989, the Board shall waive the
requirements for certification as, a professional counselor under
§ 15.5 304 § 15.5-302(d) of this subtitle for any person who:
