JOINT RESOLUTIONS
WHEREAS, As a means of developing a comprehensive trauma
rehabilitation services program, that will enable a disabled
individual to regain as high a level of productivity as possible,
resources need to be coordinated between and among the various
care providers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That the
Governor is requested to establish a coordinating council to:
develop a comprehensive rehabilitation services program for
individuals who have experienced traumatic injuries; document
needs and, establish priorities; develop funding methods; and
provide for the objective development of a public agenda for the
coordination of trauma rehabilitation efforts in the State; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That the coordinating council be composed of 14 16
17 21 members, appointed as follows:
(1) 1 representative from the Department of
Education, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation;
(2) 1 representative from the Maryland Head Injury
Foundation;
(3) 1 representative from the Spinal Cord Injury
Network;
(3) (4) 1 representative, specialized in
rehabilitation medicine, from the University of Maryland;
(4) (5) 1 representative from the Developmental
Disabilities Administration of the Department of Health and
Mental Hygiene;
(5) (6) 2 representatives from local or
community-based providers such as the Center for Living;
(6) (7) 1 representative from the staff of the
Inpatient Head Injury Program of Montebello Hospital;
(8) 1 representative from the staff of the Spinal
Cord Program of a Montebello Hospita1;
(7) (9) 1 representative from the community who has a
family member who has suffered a head injury traumatic head or
spinal cord injury;
(8) (10) 1 representative from a hospital that
provides rehabilitation services;
(9) (11) 1 case manager assigned to the Pilot Case
Management Project of the Department of Education;
