WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor                   Ch. 589

Nothing contained in §§ 492 or 522 of this article shall be
construed to prohibit or make unlawful the exhibition within the
corporate limits of the Town of Queenstown in Queen Anne's County
of motion pictures on the first day of the week, commonly called
Sunday, after the hour of 2:00 p.m. on June 21, 1953, and every
second Sunday thereafter and after the hour of 8:30 p.m. on June
28, 1953, and every second Sunday thereafter, whether the same be
exhibited with or without a charge or admission fee, provided,
however, that such exhibition shall be subject to all provisions
of law relating to licensing and censorship applicable to motion
picture exhibitions on weekdays. The work or employment of any
operator, ticket seller or any other employees or attendants in
connection with any such exhibition of motion pictures shall not
be unlawful because performed on Sundays. Any exhibition of
motion pictures on Sundays, except as hereby authorized, shall be
unlawful and subject to the provisions and penalties of said §§
492 and 522 of this article.]

Nothing contained in §§ 492 and 522 of this article shall be
construed to prohibit or make unlawful within Queen Anne's County
on the first day of the week, commonly called Sunday, the
operation of facilities for, the engaging in or playing of
baseball, golf, tennis, bowling, tenpins, duckpins, croquet,
basketball, lacrosse, soccer, hockey, softball, swimming,
boating, sailing, fishing, skating or any other wholesome game or
sport by any person or persons, or the officiating at or
assisting in the conduct of the playing of any of said game or
sports by any person or persons, or the officiating at or
assisting in the conduct of the playing of any of said games or
sports by any umpire, manager, grounds keeper, gate keeper,
ticket seller, pin boy, bat boy, or any other attendant. Except
that no such games or sports shall be played or engaged in within
one hundred (100) yards of any permanent church edifice where and
when religious services are being held.]

Within the boundaries of Howard County and on the first day
of the week, commonly called Sunday, nothing contained in §§ 492
and 522 of this article shall be construed as prohibiting any
person, whether he be the owner, operator, manager, employer,
employee or participant, from engaging in the following
activities, as they are generally described and understood: (1)
golf, (2) tennis, (3) swimming, (4) baseball, (5) horseback
riding, (6) bowling, (7) pool or billiards, and (8) permanent
places of amusement primarily provided for and devoted to the
entertainment of children. Nothing in this section shall be
construed to permit the playing of pool or billiards by a person
under 18 years of age in any establishment where alcoholic
beverages are served.]
