Ch. 589                                  LAWS OF MARYLAND

Nothing contained in § 492 of this article, however, shall
be construed as prohibiting, penalizing or making unlawful the
playing, within Kent, Caroline or Montgomery counties, on the
first day of the week, commonly called Sunday, of games of
football, baseball, softball, golf, tennis, croquet, basketball,
lacrosse, soccer and hockey by any person or persons, whether the
same be played for recreation or admission to said' games be
charged; provided, however, that it shall be unlawful for any
person or persons, to play said games on the first day of the
week, commonly called Sunday, in Caroline County except after 1
p.m., and in Kent County except when such games are played after
2 p.m. provided, however, except in Montgomery County, that no
such games shall be played in any of said counties within one
hundred (100) yards of any existing permanent, church edifice,
where religious services are being held.]

[501.

Nothing contained in said § 492 shall be construed as
prohibiting, penalizing or making unlawful the officiating at or
assisting in the conduct of the playing of games of football,
baseball, softball, golf, tennis, croquet, basketball, lacrosse,
soccer and hockey within Kent, Caroline or Montgomery counties on
the first day of the week, commonly called Sunday, of an. umpire,
manager, groundkeeper, gatekeeper, ticket seller, guard or any
other attendant, although such person or persons so officiating
at said games or assisting in the conduct thereof, are engaged
therein as an occupation, pursuit or business; provided, however,
that it shall be unlawful for any person or persons, who engage
therein as an occupation, pursuit or business, to officiate at or
assist in the conduct of the playing of said games as an umpire,
manager, ground keeper, gate keeper, ticket seller, guard or
attendant, on the first day of the week, commonly called Sunday,
except when such games are played in Caroline County after 1
p.m., and in Kent County after 2 p.m., and are not played within
one hundred (100) yards of any existing permanent church edifice
where religious services are being held.]

[510.

Any person violating any of the provisions of §§ 504,   505,

506, 507 and 508 shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and   upon

conviction thereof shall be subject to a fine of not less than

five dollars nor more than one hundred dollars ($100.00) for   each
and every such violation.]

[515.

(a) Nothing contained in §§ 492 and 522 of this article
shall be construed to prohibit or make unlawful the exhibition of
motion pictures after 1 p.m. on Sunday in the first and third
election districts of Anne Arundel County, whether the same be
exhibited with or without a charge or admission fee. The work or
