Ch. 587 LAWS OF MARYLAND
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That before this Act
becomes effective it shall first be submitted to a referendum of
the legally qualified voters of Allegany County at the general
election to be held in November of 1988. The Board of
Supervisors of Elections of Allegany County shall do those things
necessary and proper to provide for and hold the referendum here
required. There shall be printed on the ballots or ballot labels
to be used at this election the title of this Act and underneath
the title, on separate lines, a square or box to the right of and
opposite the words: "For repealing Sunday Blue Laws" and a
corresponding square or box to the right of and opposite the
words "Against repealing Sunday Blue Laws" so that each voter of
the county may designate his or her decision for or against the
provisions of this Act. If a majority of the votes cast in the
election are "For repealing Sunday Blue Laws", the provisions
of this Act shall become effective on December 15, 1988, but if
a majority of the votes cast in the election are "Against
repealing Sunday Blue Laws", the provisions of this Act shall be
of no effect and null and void.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That if any provision
of this Act or the application thereof to any person or
circumstance is held invalid for any reason, the invalidity shall
not effect the other provisions or any other application of this
Act which can be given effect without the invalid provisions or
application, and to this end all the provisions of this Act are
declared to be severable.
SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That subject to the
provisions of Section 2 herein and for the sole purpose of
providing for the referendum therein required, this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1987.

Wicomico County - Sunday Blue Laws
FOR the purpose of allowing certain wholesale and retail
establishments in Wicomico County to conduct business on
Sunday; providing certain exceptions; defining certain
terms; establishing a procedure permitting certain employees
to choose their day of rest or Sabbath without being
