BY repealing and reenacting, without amendments,

Article - Transportation

Section 22-301, 22-302, 22-405, 22-407, 22-408, and 22-409
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1984 Replacement Volume and 1986 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section(s) 27-101(k) of Article - Transportation
of the Annotated Code of Maryland be renumbered to be Section(s)
27-101(1).

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Laws of
Maryland read as follows:

Article - Transportation

22-409.

(a) The Administrator shall adopt such regulations as are
necessary for the safe transportation of hazardous materials.
These regulations shall duplicate or be consistent with current
hazardous materials regulations of the United States Department
of Transportation.

(b) Any person driving a vehicle carrying any hazardous
materials as cargo on a highway shall comply at all times with
this section and the regulations of the Administrator adopted
under this section.

(c) The vehicle shall be marked or placarded at such places
and in such manner as are required by regulations adopted under
this section.

(d) The vehicle shall be equipped with fire extinguishers
of a type, size, and number approved by the Administrator, filled
and ready for immediate use, and placed at a convenient point on
the vehicle.

(d) The driver of a vehicle shall obey every sign and every
direction of a police officer to stop his vehicle and submit it

to measurement or weighing.

(e) A sign used to direct vehicles under this section may
be displayed only by a police officer who is assigned to enforce

this title.
