Ch. 308                                    LAWS OF MARYLAND

(8)  THE TERMS OF THE INITIAL VOTING MEMBERS OF THE
COMMISSION EXPIRE AS FOLLOWS:

(I)   1 2 IN 1988;                                               

(II)  2 3 IN 1989;

(III)  2 3 IN 1990; AND

(IV)  2 3 IN 1991.

(9)  AT THE END OF A TERM, A MEMBER CONTINUES TO SERVE
UNTIL A SUCCESSOR IS APPOINTED AND QUALIFIES.

(10)  A MEMBER WHO IS APPOINTED AFTER A TERM HAS BEGUN
SERVES ONLY FOR THE REST OF THE TERM AND UNTIL A SUCCESSOR IS
APPOINTED AND QUALIFIES.

(11)  THE GOVERNOR MAY REMOVE A MEMBER FOR
INCOMPETENCE OR MISCONDUCT.

(12)  THE COMMISSION SHALL ASSIST THE SEAFOOD
MARKETING AUTHORITY AND THE DIVISION OF MARKET DEVELOPMENT IN THE
DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT IN:

(I)  PROMOTING INCREASED CONSUMPTION AND
DISTRIBUTION OF MARYLAND SEAFOOD; AND

(II)  SEEKING EFFICIENT METHODS TO REDUCE COST
AND IMPROVE THE QUALITY AND MARKETABILITY OF MARYLAND SEAFOOD.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That if Chapter of
the Acts of 1987 (H.B. 1175/S.B. 699) becomes effective, the
publisher of the Annotated Code of Maryland, the Michie Company,
is directed to incorporate the changes made by this Act into the
appropriate places in the Agriculture Article of the Annotated
Code of Maryland without the necessity of further action by the
General Assembly.

SECTION 2 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1987.
