Ch. 220                                    LAWS OF MARYLAND

CHAPTER 220

(House Bill 431)

AN ACT concerning

University of Baltimore - Use of Public Funds

FOR the purpose of repealing a certain provision that prohibits
the University of Baltimore from using public funds for the
construction of certain dormitory facilities; and generally
relating to the use of public funds by the University of
Baltimore.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 14-301(c)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1985 Replacement Volume and 1986 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Education

14-301.

(c) (1) Funds provided in the State budget may be used to:

(i) Support grants and scholarships to any

eligible minority student enrolled in either the day or evening

division at the downtown campus of the University of Baltimore
School of Law;

(ii) Provide staff to recruit and counsel
students; and

(iii) Provide academic support services that
are adequate to maintain aid and academic programs.

(2)  The academic services shall be available to all
students enrolled at the School of Law.

(3)  Each award under this subsection shall be based
on need as determined by the financial aid office of the
University of Baltimore.

[(4) The University of Baltimore is an educational
institution for commuting students, and public funds may not be
used for the construction of dormitory facilities for the
University of Baltimore.]
