CHAPTER 201

(House Bill 397)

AN ACT concerning

Farm Labor Contractor Registration

FOR the purpose of establishing a uniform expiration date for
farm labor contractor certificates of registration; and
generally relating to certificates of registration.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 100 - Work, Labor and Employment

Section 80B(a)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1985 Replacement Volume)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 100 - Work, Labor and Employment

80B.

(a) (1) A person may only act as a farm labor contractor in
this State if the person holds a valid certificate of
registration issued by the Commissioner.

(2)  A registered farm labor contractor shall carry at
all times, while engaging in farm labor contracting activities in
Maryland, a valid State certificate of registration and shall
exhibit it to all persons in this State with whom the farm labor
contractor intends to deal as a farm labor contractor or upon
request by an authorized State official or employee.

(3)  A photograph of the farm labor contractor shall
be affixed to the certificate of registration.

(4)  A certificate of registration may not be
transferred or assigned.

(5)  A certificate shall be valid for NOT MORE THAN 12
months from the date of issuance unless sooner suspended or
revoked by the Commissioner.

(6)  ALL CERTIFICATES OF REGISTRATION SHALL EXPIRE ON
THE FIRST DAY OF MAY MARCH, IRRESPECTIVE OF THE DATE OF ISSUANCE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1986.
