DRAFTER'S NOTE: This corrects errors in punctuation, adds a
conjunction; and renumbers a subsection in Article
88A, § 17A(d).
The errors in punctuation and the omission of the
conjunction occurred in Ch. 384 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of 1972. Former subsection (g) was
repealed in Ch. 362 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of 1976.
The errors and omission were noted by the Michie
Company.
(Article 88A, § 17A is set out in its entirety for purposes of
Sections 2 and 3 of this Act.)
47.
Local units shall have the duties and responsibilities as
prescribed in this article, and shall:
(1) Administer the provisions of this subtitle in the
respective counties and in Baltimore City;
(2) Report to the State Department at such time and
in such manner and form as the State Department may from time to
time direct; AND
(3) Submit annually to the respective local governing
authority, after approval by the State Department, a budget
containing an estimate and supporting data setting forth the
amount of money needed to carry out the provisions of this
subtitle.

in Article 88A, § 47.
The conjunction was omitted in Ch. 148 of the Acts of
the Special Session of the General Assembly of 1936.

62.
(a) Every application for money, property, food stamps,
medical care or other assistance, under a social, health, or
nutritional program based on need, financed in whole or in part
by the State of Maryland, and administered by the Department of
[Employment and Social Services] HUMAN RESOURCES, or the
Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, or by the local
department of social services, whether under this or any other
article in this Code, shall be in writing and signed by the
applicant. Any person who in making and signing such an
application makes a false or fraudulent statement with intent to
obtain any such money, property, food stamps, medical care or
