CHAPTER 116

(House Bill 1047)

AN ACT concerning

Youth Camps - Licensing Certification

FOR the purpose of requiring the licensing Certification of
certain youth camps to protect the health and safety of
certain youth campers; requiring application for a youth
camp license and the submitting of a licensing fee and
certain other documents; permitting the Department of Health
and Mental Hygiene to establish a licensing fee within
certain limits; creating an Advisory Council on Youth Camps
and providing for a certain membership; providing for the
adoption of certain regulations; providing for inspections
of certain youth camps; permitting the Department to take
certain actions for violations of this Act; providing
penalties; defining certain terms; and generally relating to
the licensing certification and operation of youth camps.

Section 14-401 through 14-415 14-411, inclusive, to be under

the new subtitle "Subtitle 4. Maryland Youth Camp

Act"

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Health - General

SUBTITLE 4. MARYLAND YOUTH CAMP ACT

14-401.

(A)  IN THIS SUBTITLE THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE MEANINGS
INDICATED.

(B)  "CAMPER" MEANS ANY CHILD UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE WHO IS
ATTENDING A YOUTH CAMP.

(C)  "COUNCIL" MEANS THE YOUTH CAMP SAFETY ADVISORY COUNCIL.

(D)  "DAY CAMP" MEANS A YOUTH CAMP THAT IS:

(1) OPERATED FOR ALL OR PART OF THE DAY BUT LESS THAN
24 HOURS A DAY; AND
