I. Governor's Cabinet Council on the Coordination of Food
and Nutrition Services
A. The Governor's Cabinet Council on the
Coordination of Food and Nutrition Services
is hereby created to provide advice to the
Governor on matters related to the
management of food and nutrition services
and to promote interagency coordination in
the delivery of food and nutrition services.
B. The Cabinet Council shall consist of the
Secretary of Human Resources, the Secretary
of Health and Mental Hygiene, the Secretary
of Agriculture, the State Superintendent of
Schools, and the Director of the State
Office on Aging. The Chairman of the State
Advisory Council on Nutrition shall serve as
an ex-officio member of the Cabinet Council.
The Governor shall appoint a chairman from
among the members of the Cabinet Council.
C. The Cabinet Council shall meet on a
continuing and periodic basis and shall
examine and recommend initiatives designed
to enhance the coordination and
effectiveness of Maryland's Food and
Nutrition programs and specifically the
Cabinet Council shall:
1. Develop a comprehensive State policy
on food and nutrition services;
2. Evaluate the feasibility and
desirability of consolidating and
simplifying federal food program plans
in accordance with Federal Executive
Order 12372;
3. Provide information and
recommendations as appropriate
concerning programmatic and budgetary
adjustments and the establishment of
annual food and nutrition priorities;
4. Consider methods to identify and
monitor the nutritional needs of
Marylanders.
5. Consider methods to foster public and
private coordination and cooperation
in addressing the nutritional needs of
Marylanders.
D. The Cabinet Council shall establish the
