May 27, 1986
The Honorable Benjamin L. Cardin
Speaker of the House of Delegates
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404
Dear Mr. Speaker:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 1162.
This bill provides that judges of election and alternate
judges of election in Prince George's County will receive $25 as
compensation for taking the required course of instruction
administered by the Board of Supervisors of Elections.
Senate Bill 26, which was passed by the General Assembly and
signed by me on April 29, 1986, accomplishes the same purpose.
Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 1162.
Sincerely,
Harry Hughes
Governor
