May 27, 1986
The Honorable Benjamin L. Cardin
Speaker of the House of Delegates
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 525.

This bill delays the July 1, 1986 sunset date which would
end State aid for local bus systems in Montgomery and Prince
George's Counties. Under the bill, the program will terminate
July 1, 1988.

Senate Bill 123, which was passed by the General Assembly
and signed by me on May 13, 1986, accomplishes the same purpose.
Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 525.

Sincerely,
Harry Hughes
Governor
