VETOES
House Bill 529, which was passed by the General Assembly and
signed by me on April 29, 1986, accomplishes the same purpose.
Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 316.

AN ACT concerning
Child Abuse - Reporting Requirements - Sanctions
FOR the purpose of providing that certain persons who are
required to report suspected child abuse do so if they have
any reason to believe that a child has been subjected to
abuse and may be subjected to future abuse; requiring these
persons to file a written report within a certain time;
providing for certain civil penalties for violation of the
mandatory child abuse reporting law; providing that certain
persons who are required to notify the local department of
social services or the local law enforcement agency of
suspected child abuse may be subject to a certain civil fine
for knowingly failing to make the required notification;
providing that certain persons who knowingly fail to make
the a required notification of suspected child abuse, may be
subject to certain professional sanctions; and generally
relating to professional sanctions for enforcement of the
mandatory child abuse reporting law.
