AN ACT concerning
Allegany County - County Investigator
FOR the purpose of repealing the requirement that the Allegany
County investigator and assistant county investigator's
salaries be keyed to the salary of certain officers of the
Maryland State Police; requiring that the funding for those
positions be as specified in the Allegany County Code;
prohibiting future salaries from being less than current
ones; and clarifying language.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article 10 - Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact
Section 40(b)(4)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 10 - Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact
40.
(b) In Allegany County,
(4) The State's Attorney shall appoint a county and
an assistant county investigator in accordance with the
provisions of [Section 604A of Article 1 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland] §§ 12-lA AND 12-lB OF THE ALLEGANY COUNTY
CODE. [The county investigator's salary may not be less than the
salary of the rank of detective sergeant with the Maryland State
Police. The assistant county investigator's salary may not be
less than 90 percent of the salary of rank of detective sergeant
with the Maryland State Police] THE COUNTY AND ASSISTANT COUNTY
INVESTIGATOR SHALL BE FUNDED UNDER § 12-lA OF THE ALLEGANY COUNTY
CODE.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the salaries of
the incumbent county investigator and the assistant county
investigator which were authorized in accordance with the
provisions of § 604A of Article 1 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland may not be reduced by the provisions of this
Act.
