SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to
Article III, § 35, of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act may
not be construed to extend or apply to the salary or compensation
of the Sheriff of Dorchester County in office on the effective
date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning the
salary or compensation of the Sheriff of Dorchester County shall
take effect at the beginning of the next following term of
office.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1986.

AN ACT concerning

Dorchester County and Caroline Counties -
State's Attorney's Salary

FOR the purpose of altering the salary of the State's Attorney of
Dorchester County and of the State's Attorney of Caroline
County; and providing that this Act does not affect the
salary of the incumbent State's Attorney Attorneys.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 10 - Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact

40.

(f) In Caroline County, (1) the State's Attorney's salary
is [$20,000] $30,000.                                                           

(j) In Dorchester County, (1) the State's Attorney's salary
is [$25,000] $30,000.

(2) The County Commissioners of Dorchester County
