Article 28 - Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning
Commission

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 28 - Maryland-National Capital Park and
Planning Commission
2-102.
(A) The term of office of each member of the Commission is
[four] 4 years. Appointments shall be made on or before June 15
of the year in which any appointment is to be made, and terms of
office shall begin as of that date and if any appointment is not
made as provided in this section a vacancy exists which shall be
filled as provided in this article for the filling of vacancies
on the Commission.
(B)(1) The members of the Commission in office
immediately prior to [July 1, 1975] JULY 1, 1986 shall remain in
office under the provision of this article for the remainder of
the terms for which they were appointed.
(2) ON AND AFTER JULY 1, 1986, EACH COMMISSION MEMBER
FROM MONTGOMERY COUNTY, WHICH MEMBERS COLLECTIVELY CONSTITUTE THE
MONTGOMERY COUNTY PLANNING BOARD, SHALL BE APPOINTED, ONE EACH,
FROM THE 5 COUNTY LEGISLATIVE RESIDENCE DISTRICTS ESTABLISHED BY
LAW.
(3) OF THE MEMBERS APPOINTED TO THE BOARD AFTER JULY
1, 1986, NO 2 MAY RESIDE IN THE SAME COUNTY LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT
WHILE SERVING ON THE BOARD. Members may continue to serve until
their successors are appointed and have qualified.

The Commission shall be composed of ten members, five of
whom shall be residents of Montgomery County and five of whom
shall be residents of Prince George's County. Of the members of
the Commission from each county, not more than three shall be
members of the same political party. All members shall be persons
of ability, experience and integrity and may not be selected as
representing or supporting any special interest or interests. All
members of the Commission to be appointed from Prince George's
County shall be appointed by the county executive subject to the
