CHAPTER 520

(House Bill 1023)
AN ACT concerning

Nurses - License Renewal - Waiver of Examination

FOR the purpose of requiring, as a condition for license renewal

and for a waiver of examination requirements, a nurse

licensee or an applicant to be a licensed nurse to complete
a certain amount of hours of active nursing practice within
a certain time period or complete a certain course or

program; and providing for a certain effective date.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article - Health Occupations
Sections 7-306 and 7-310(c)(3)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1981 Volume and 1985 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF

MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Health Occupations
7-306.

(a)  Subject to the provisions of this section, the Board
may waive any appropriate examination requirement of this title
for an applicant who is licensed or registered to practice
registered nursing or licensed practical nursing in any other
state or country.

(b)   The Board may grant a waiver under this section only
if the applicant:

(1)  Pays the application fee set by the Board under §
7-303 of this subtitle; and

(2)  Provides adequate evidence that:

(i) At the time the applicant graduated from a
nursing education program approved in the other state or country,
the applicant met the educational qualifications then required by
the laws of this State; [and]
