AN ACT concerning

Executive Department - Office on Volunteerism

FOR the purpose of creating an Office on Volunteerism in the
Executive Department with certain powers and duties;
providing for the appointment of the Director by the
Governor; reassigning responsibility for the Maryland
Service Corps from the Department of Human Resources to the
Office subject to certain program limitations; creating a
Governor's Volunteer Council with certain membership and
terms to advise the Office and make certain recommendations
concerning volunteerism; establishing the Executive Fellows
Program; and generally relating to the Office of
Volunteerism.

(a) The Maryland Service Corps is hereby created for the
purpose of encouraging and developing a program of full and
part-time public service which would involve citizens of all ages
throughout the State of Maryland in meeting the critical human
needs of indigent residents, the needs of children, the elderly
