AN ACT concerning

Lottery - Compensation of Licensed Agents

FOR the purpose of requiring the State Lottery Commission to

include funds for bonuses or incentives for licensed agents
in the Commission's annual budget, instead of limiting the
total of bonuses and incentives to a certain level; and
requiring the State Lottery Agency to appropriate certain
funds for bonuses and incentives.

FOR the purpose of requiring the State Lottery Agency to

appropriate funds for bonuses and incentives in the Agency's
operating budget beginning in Fiscal Year 1988.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF

MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

9-117.

(a) During a calendar year, a licensed agent may not
receive regular commissions that exceed 5% of the licensed
agent's gross receipts from ticket sales made during that year.

(b) (1) The Commission may authorize the payment of special
bonuses or incentives to licensed agents and their employees.

(2) The total of the bonuses and incentives may not
exceed one-half of 1% of the gross receipts from ticket sales for
the year for which the bonuses or incentives are awarded.

(3) FOR FISCAL YEAR 1988 AND FOR ALL FISCAL YEARS
THEREAFTER, THE AGENCY SHALL APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR THE BONUSES
AND INCENTIVES IN THE AGENCY'S OPERATING BUDGET.
