HARRY HUGHES, Governor
145
599 of the Acts of the Regular Session of the General
Assembly of 1985.
The erroneous internal reference was noted by the
State Attorney General, in his bill review letter of
May 16, 1985, and by the professional staff of the
Legislative Division of the Department of Legislative
Reference.
Chapter 526 of the Acts of the Regular Session
of the General Assembly of 1985
SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1985. It shall remain in effect [for a
period of 3 years] UNTIL DECEMBER 1, 1989 and, at the end of
December 1, 1989, and with no further action required by the
General Assembly, this Act shall be abrogated and of no further
force and effect.
DRAFTER'S NOTE: This corrects a self-contradictory deadline
in Section 4 of Ch. 526 of the Acts of the Regular
Session of the General Assembly of 1985.
As amended by the Environmental Matters Committee,
Section 4 originally provided for termination of the
provisions of Ch. 526 at the end of June 30, 1988, a
period of 3 years from the effective date of July 1,
1985. Conference committee amendments extended the
termination date to December 1, 1989, but failed to
amend the provision providing that the Act would
remain in effect for 3 years.
This clarifies the intent of the Conference Committee
amendment.
The error was noted by the State Attorney General in
his bill review letter of May 16, 1985.
Chapter 6 of the Acts of the First Special Session
of the General Assembly of 1985
SECTION 6. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That any limit
established by the Fund Director under § 10-110(b) of this Act
shall only apply to accounts established after the effective date
of this Act. Notwithstanding § 10-110(b) of this Act, any
account established on or before the effective date of this Act
shall be subject to the same terms and conditions of insurance
under the [Maryland Deposit Insurance Fund Corporation] STATE OF
MARYLAND DEPOSIT INSURANCE FUND CORPORATION as that account was
subject under the Maryland Savings-Share Insurance Corporation.
DRAFTER'S NOTE: This corrects a misnomer of the State of
Maryland Deposit Insurance Fund Corporation in Section
6 of Ch. 6 of the Acts of the First Special Session of
the General Assembly of 1985.
