1238                                          LAWS OF MARYLAND                                      Ch. 297

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Health
Education and Advocacy Unit shall report to the General Assembly
by January 31, 1989 on the progress of the Unit in implementing
its educational and advocacy program, and shall include in the
report recommendations on the need for the continuation of the
Unit and any necessary changes in the administrative structure of
the Unit.

SECTION 2 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1986. It shall remain effective for a
period of 3 4 years and, at the end of June 30, 1989 1990 ,
and with no further action required by the General Assembly, this
Act shall be abrogated and of no further force and effect.

(Senate Bill 131)

AN ACT concerning

Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders -
Adult Day Care Centers

FOR the purpose of requiring the Department of Health and Mental
Hygiene to investigate whether to use promote the use of
existing adult day care centers or to build promote the
expansion development of additional day care centers to care
for all elderly, including persons with Alzheimer's Disease
and related disorders; requiring the Department to consider
certain factors in its investigation; requiring certain
reports under this Act; and generally relating to adult day
care centers for all elderly, including persons who suffer
from Alzheimer's Disease and related disorders.

Preamble

WHEREAS, The Governor's Task Force on Alzheimer's Disease
and Related Disorders studied the problems associated with these
debilitating disorders and issued its final report on June 30,
1985; and

WHEREAS, This study provides a fresh and timely review of
the effects of Alzheimer's Disease and related disorders, along
with suggesting legislative and administrative proposals that may
alleviate some of the drastic effects of these debilitating
disorders; and
