March Court 1714/15 life time divers goods & Merchandizes in the afd Account Set forth and at his Spcãll request did Assume upon himselfe & to the Said Thomas Crawford then & there faithfully promised that he the Said James in his life time all Such Sumes of money as the Said Goods at the time of the Sale & Delivery thereof were reasonably worth to ye Sd Thomas Crawford when thereunto required would well & truly content & pay And the Said Thomas Crawford in fact Saith that ye Said Goods & Merchandizes at the time of the Sale & delivery thereof were reasonably worth the Sume of four pounds ten Shillings & four pence like money as by the Said Account appears of which the Said James in his life time then & there had Notice - and whereas the Said James in his life time to wit the day & year afd at the Parish afd in the County & Jurisdiciõn afd in Consideration that the afd Thomas Crawford at the like Instance & request of the Said James in his life time had lent unto the Said James in his life time the Sume of eight pounds four Shillings & Six pence of like money as by the Said Acco.t appears did Assume upon himselfe & to the Said Thomas Crawford then and there faithfully promised that he the Said James in his life time the Said Sume of eight pounds four Shillings & Six pence to the Said Thomas Crawford when ever afterwards he Should be thereunto required would well & truly content & pay Yet Nevertheless the Said James in his life time & the Said Ffrances after his death the Severall promises & Assumpcõns of the afd James in his life time as afd. made as to the afd Severall Sumes of money in the Sd Declaration & Account menconed & contained which in the whole amount unto the Sum of~ Twenty pounds four Shillings & Seven pence currant money of this Province he hath not minded nor any ways kept But altho’ the Said James in his life time did pay & Satisfie to him the Said Thomas Crawford the Sume or quantity of Three hundred forty eight pounds of Tobacco which in money amounts the Sume of twenty nine - Shillings curr.t money of the afd twenty pounds four Shillings & Seven pence part yet the afd James in his life time & the Said Frances Sinc[e] his death the Promise & assumpcõn of the Said James in his life time as to ye Sume of Eighteen pounds fifteen Shillings & Seven pence of the afd Twenty pounds four Shillings & Seven pence residue little regarding but plotting & fraudulently intending him the Said Thomas Crawford. in this part craftily & Subtilly to deceive & defraud ye.
