          at | of August in the thirteenth Year of the Reigne of her now Majestie
   George Hill~ . | Anne &ca. That he take George Hill late of Kent County Ship Carpenter


if he Should be found in his Baylwick & him Safe keepe So that he.
   have his body before her Said Majesties Justices of ye next Court to be held for Said County at—
   the Court house in the Town of Chester   to: Answer unto Edward Scott of the afd County Merch.t
   of a plea of Trespass upon the Case And that he have then & there the Said writ &ca.
     Att which Said next Court viz the Second day of Novemb.r in the Same year -
   last mentioned the day of returne of Said writ Come William Frisby Gent high Sherf. of Said
   County and made returne thereof in these words thereon Endorsed as followeth viz.t . .
   Cepo Corpus pr Wm Frisby Sherf. . . And now at this Court Came the Said Plt by Thomas
   Bowne his attorney and Declares as foll vizt Maryland Kent County Ss George Hill late
   of Kent County Ship Carpenter Stands attached to Answer unto Edward Scott of ye afsd County
   Merch.t of a plea of Trespass upon ye Case    . .    and Whereupon the Said Edward by
   Thomas Bowne his Attry complaines that Whereas the Said George the Sixth day of May in the
   year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred & fourteen at the Parish of S.t Paul in the County
   afd within the Jurisdiccõn of this Court in Consideration that the Said Edward at the Special
   Instance & request of the Said George then & there had paid & Satisfied unto a Certain Edward
   Plesto and to & for the Proper use & behoofe of him the Said George the Sume or quantity
   of eight hundred pounds of Tobacco as by an Acco.t hereunto Annexed appears did Assume upon
   himselfe & to the Said Edward Scott then & there faithfully promised that he the Said George
   the Said Sume of quantity of Eight hundred pounds of Tobacco (as afd paid) to the Said Edward
   Scott when ever he Should be thereto required would well & truly content & pay Yet —
   Nevertheless the afd George his Promise & Asumpcõn in forme afd made not regarding but
   endeavouring & fraudulently intending him the Said Edward Scott in this part craftily & .
   Subtilly to Deceive & Defraud the Said Eight hundred Pounds of Tobacco nor any part~
   thereof to ye Said Edward Scott hath not paid Altho’ to do the Same the Said Edward Scott.
   afterwards (to wit) the Seventh day of May at the Parish afd in the County & Jurisdiction
   afd by the Said Edward Scott hath been thereto required but to him hitherto to pay hath.
   altogether gainsayed & hitherto gainsays Whereupon he Says he is ye worse & hath—
